I just keep watching this over and over… I’m trying to read Napolitano… She doesn’t behave as if the information Manny is giving her is particularly new, but she listens. She lets Manny take the lead, and she gives him the time of day. She doesn’t act as if she’s “cornered;” she’s not defensive… if anything, she gives the appearance of being thoughtful, respectful and responsive…In fact, she gives him a definite response… a confirmation: “we usually leave that to the cities” (as if “that” had ever happened before…) but in saying this, she acknowledges that an investigation of Building 7 WOULD be within the City’s jurisdiction — passing the buck, yes; possibly acknowledging what she probably is already well aware is being pursued by the families, anyway, and implying that this isn’t going to be pursued by her office…but she could have taken this conversation in any number of directions and she didn’t…and she goes in this direction even while she’s being taped (thus, if she knows who is doing the taping, knowing that the tape will up on YouTube for the world to see, potentially overnight). She doesn’t say “Building What??” She doesn’t say that no investigation is needed because there already WAS an investigation. She doesn’t say there is no need for an investigation at all. And she clearly hands the investigation to the City…twice?… three times? … DHS hands jurisdiction for an investigation of Building 7 over to the City of New York…Very, very interesting…
