Leading architects on both sides of the Atlantic hit out at the institute this week after American architect Richard Gage, part of the group Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth, delivered a lecture at RIBA HQ on Monday night.

The venue was booked by fellow American and RIBA member Craig Phillip Kiner, an associate at Zaha Hadid Architects.

Gage claims that the fires caused by the impact of the two jets flown into the World Trade Centre on September 11, 2001, could not have been sufficient to make the steel structure of the towers collapse, and he questions the collapse of World Trade Centre 7, a nearby 47-storey building which was not hit by an aircraft.

But critics claim his scholarly approach is nothing more than a cover for a “bonkers” conspiracy theory which ultimately points the finger at the US government and allies including the state of Israel.

Director of the American Institute of Architects’ New York chapter Rick Bell, who witnessed 9/11, expressed surprise at the event and said “no amount of money” would persuade him to allow the group to talk at his headquarters.

“The professional community discredits this guy,” he said. “We rent to just about anybody but if this guy came to me I’d say we don’t want your money, we don’t want you in our building.
“You have to draw the line somewhere… Not for any amount of money would we have that talk in our space. It gives it a credibility that it doesn’t deserve.”

KPF chairman Gene Kohn, who was the AIA’s spokesman in the aftermath of the attacks, called Gage’s theories “ridiculous”.

“There were no explosives planted,” he said. “The buildings were definitely brought down by the planes. This was not your typical fire. Basically they’re accusing the government of doing something so dastardly, to destroy a part of New York – it doesn’t make a lot of sense.”

In London, figures including former RIBA president Jack Pringle and Stephan Reinke, founding president of the AIA’s UK chapter, criticised the event.

David Aaronovitch, Times columnist and author of Voodoo Histories: the Role of the Conspiracy Theory in Shaping Modern History, was at the event. He said: “Zionists, Israelis and the Saudis were blamed for doing this, that or the other” by audience members.

He said around 230 people including 25-30 self-identified architects and engineers attended.

“It was every bit as bonkers as you’d expect it to be,” he told BD. “What they mean is that George Bush and the Zionists brought down the towers.

“The RIBA let itself out to a conspiracy theory organisation whose theories are utterly insane.

“The choice of the RIBA was not accidental… the RIBA should have made it clear that the vast majority of architects think these theories have no merit.”

But Gage said it was unfair of critics to attack his organisation without looking at its evidence, which he claims is supported by 1,500 people in both disciplines.

“Architects and engineers have willfully ignored the message that we’ve been speaking about for five years,” he said. “When is the RIBA going to take this seriously?

“It is extremely important that we understand exactly what happened on 9/11… the implications of the demolition of the Twin Towers are very disturbing – I’m not denying that – but to refuse to look at the evidence because it has dark implications is ignorance.”

Kiner said his membership of Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth was a “personal matter” and had nothing to do with Zaha Hadid Architects.

In a statement, the RIBA said: “The RIBA never endorses, sponsors or publicises private events held in its buildings, therefore any perception that this event was associated with the RIBA is regrettable. We will be reviewing our policy on private hire of our building in the light of this event and reserve the right to review room bookings on a case by case basis.”

According to the five-year-old group’s website, more than 1,500 architects and engineers have signed its petition calling for the US Congress to launch an independent investigation into what caused the buildings to collapse.

“We believe that there is sufficient evidence to conclude that three World Trade Centre buildings No 1 (North Tower), No 2 (South Tower) and No 7 (the 47-storey high-rise across Vesey St) were destroyed not by jet impact and fires but by controlled demolition with explosives.”

It says the Twin Towers’ collapse “exhibited all of the characteristics of destruction by explosion” which include “improbable symmetry of debris distribution”, “extremely rapid onset of destruction” and “evidence of explosives found in dust samples”.

Spokesman Richard Gage, a San Francisco Bay Area architect, launched “his own unyielding quest for the truth about 9/11” after hearing a radio show in 2006.

For Gregory, awareness of the logical fallacies behind the official 9/11 story came early. “I was suspicious of 9/11 from day one,” Gregory recalled. “The way the Twin Towers and Building 7 fell just didn’t make any sense.”

Over the years, Gregory has independently researched the anomalies that contradict the official explanation of the WTC catastrophe, but he was not aware of a group of technical professionals that could confirm his suspicions. That changed on September 9, 2010, when he attended the press conference held by AE911Truth at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Gregory sat in astonishment as Gage and other experts described the compelling case for controlled demolition.

“I was so amazed, because I had never seen the scientific evidence put together like that,” Gregory said.

Motivated by the work of AE911Truth, Gregory announced to the guests and media in attendance that he would be embarking on a two-year solid food fast for 9/11 Truth. “It was such a blessing to see you all take a stand that day,” Gregory explained, “and I wanted to add positive energy to your effort.”

Gregory’s declaration was so moving that Gage was overwhelmed with gratitude. “I was deeply humbled and honored to have a civil rights icon like Dick Gregory support AE911Truth directly and with such a strong statement of action,” Gage said afterward.

Those who may be concerned about the health effects of Gregory’s decision need not worry. As a vegetarian and nutritionist, he has maintained a minimalist diet for decades and performed hunger strikes for other controversial issues. When asked what his doctor thought about the fast, Gregory replied, “He’s been dead for 30 years.” We hope that his sense of humor follows him into the 9/11 activist work. We need it.

A few days later, on September 11, Gregory followed up by moderating a panel discussion in the “How the World Changed after 9/11” seminar in New York City, and since then, the response he has received from friends and colleagues has been tremendous.

“People have told me that they knew something was wrong with the official 9/11 story, but they didn’t know what to do,” he said. “Now they feel empowered by my decision to fast for 9/11 Truth.”

Even though Gregory has been a peaceful crusader for many causes, he believes the technical focus that AE911Truth has maintained will allow it to withstand the scrutiny and condemnation that has frustrated other activist groups. “The difference here is that mathematics is the same throughout the world,” Gregory said. “When architects and engineers see your research, it will make sense to them. Now those who feel inspired to share the truth with others have talking points that are backed by hard science and expert analysis.”

Gregory also sees potential in bringing the 9/11: Blueprint for Truth DVD to places of worship. “The churches of America are a strong force,” he explained, “and if we reach out to them with this kind of information, it will make a big difference.”

The continued collaboration between AE911Truth and Dick Gregory is expected to yield positive results in the near future. “We look forward to working with Dick on some important outreach projects in 2011,” Gage revealed.

Gregory expressed a similar optimism about the potential effect of upcoming events: “I hope my endeavors will bring greater visibility to AE911Truth and the explosive evidence that so many have yet to see.”

By stepping forward and taking decisive action in his own unique way, Gregory has reminded us that there are a variety of paths anyone can take to contribute to the push for an independent 9/11 investigation. Whether this means volunteering, distributing brochures, becoming a sustaining supporter of AE911Truth, or making personal sacrifices as an example to others, we all have the opportunity to create a distinctive impact. Just as it took thousands of workers with different skills to construct the WTC skyscrapers, it will take the combined efforts of prominent individuals and average citizens to awaken our fellow citizens to the truth about what really brought those buildings down – and secure justice for all of us that are so deeply affected.

My main focus relative to 9/11 had been on the destruction of the three World Trade Center skyscrapers. I had not been able to spend much time on the Pentagon issue. I was initially impressed by CIT’s presentation and, more than a year and a half ago, provided a short statement of support for their efforts.

After making my statement I became aware of more details of the CIT witness accounts as well as the rest of the compelling eyewitness testimony that is available. The vast majority of eyewitness accounts refute the CIT flyover conclusion, as they entail that the plane hit the Pentagon or was flying so low it could not miss.

I was also surprised to learn that 12 of the witnesses that CIT interviewed (including six witnesses to whom CIT refers to as north path witnesses) were in a position to see the Pentagon and all 12 stated that they saw the plane hit the Pentagon. It was clear from this that CIT used improper investigative methods. CIT used and presented only those portions of their witness reports which fit their conclusion. The preponderance of CIT’s own evidence in fact supports the conclusion that the plane impacted the Pentagon. (See Summary and Analysis of “National Security Alert” and other works listed below for these and many additional witness statements that describe the plane as clearly impacting the Pentagon).

Because of these concerns I provided new statements in December 2009 and January 2010 pointing out that my previous statement of support should not be interpreted as an endorsement of their conclusion that the airplane flew over the Pentagon. Despite these statements, CIT has continued to publish my original statement and characterize it as an endorsement of their flyover conclusion. I am hereby now on the record clearly as NOT supporting the CIT investigation at all. In addition, I insist that CIT delete my name from its web site in any and every context in which it might give the impression of support or endorsement of their efforts from me.

I base my present position also on a number of blogs, papers, blogs, and videos that have shed light on the Pentagon Flight 77 issues and on CIT’s work. These papers should be among those studied by anyone seeking the full truth about these matters. Most of these works analyze additional evidence and come to different conclusions than CIT does.

There was a time in the four years after 9/11 when I simply assumed that the official story of the destruction of the WTC Twin Towers on 9/11 was true. One could say that I “endorsed” the official story based on what I knew at the time, but as I learned more, my opinion of what happened to those buildings evolved radically. John Maynard Keynes, father of Keynesian Economics, once said: “When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?” A similar evolution has occurred in relation to my view of CIT’s work.

I strongly recommend that people who care to research what happened at the Pentagon take personal responsibility for forming their own conclusions by acquainting themselves with a wide range of analysis done by people who have come before them rather than jumping to conclusions based on a skewed selection of evidence and argument, or being unduly influenced by any type of authority figure. Use your own discernment, based on your use of the scientific method to arrive at a coherent theory that you can confidently stand behind.

One of the authors cited above, Frank Legge, PhD., admonishes us to adopt a “prudent approach” to the Pentagon piece of the 9/11 puzzle. In the end he wisely advocates the “precautionary principle” which is to “assert only what we can truly know,” given the contradictory evidence, misinformation, disinformation, and lack of information from official sources, and the difficulty in verifying much of it, years after the fact and with inadequate resources.

Legge concludes that there is prima facie evidence that “the official explanation of the event at the Pentagon is false and that a cover-up exists. He concludes as well this negative hypothesis: that there is “no proof that a 757 did not hit the Pentagon.” And, since officials are holding the cards (videos) as to what did or didn’t hit the Pentagon, Dr. Legge’s recommendation is that investigators “take care to avoid publicly asserting that the 757 did not hit the Pentagon”.

We can all agree that no hijacked plane should have been able to violate the airspace of our nation’s capital and hit the headquarters of the most sophisticated defense system in the world – an hour and a half after the assault began on the Twin Towers.

The 9/11 Truth movement will be more likely to succeed in its effort to educate the public about the Pentagon by focusing on those areas of greatest agreement.

They have been deceived about what happened on that terrible day. We are shining the spotlight, literally, on the fact that the official story of what happened at Ground Zero simply cannot be true and that a truly independent new investigation is needed both as a matter of national security and as the key to justice for the victims of the Twin Towers.”

“Building 7 is a ‘Smoking Gun of the 9/11 crime scene” Gage said. “We hope that after tonight, New Yorkers will see September 11th in a whole new light.”

While that press conference was held at the National Press Club in Washington D.C., activists were holding local press conferences in front of federal buildings all throughout the country, including Utica.

Blogger Andrew Steele said he questions the official story of 9-11.

Building Seven was not hit by a plane, collapsing eight hours after the first twin tower was struck.

“Building seven is the smoking gun,” Steele said. “That building fell completely into its own footprint. You can watch on youtube yourself and use your own common sense. Even if you don’t have a scientific background…if you have two eyes, you can see that fire alone did not bring down that building.”

Architect Richard Gage also points to World Trade Center 7, a 47-story building that was not hit by an aircraft, yet collapsed in free-fall acceleration and in a manner consistent with a controlled implosion:

“Government investigators at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) have been forced to acknowledge the free-fall descent, an indicting fact, after being presented with analysis by AE911Truth petition signers.”

Other reasons that AE911Truth supporters have uncovered in the course of examining the forensic evidence include:

* The Twin Towers suffered total destruction in 10 to 14 seconds in near free-fall accelerations which can only occur as a result of pre-set demolition explosives.

* More than 100 first responders reported explosions and flashes consistent with pre-set demolitions.

* 90,000 tons of concrete and metal decking were pulverized in mid-air, creating the signature dust clouds of controlled demolitions.

* A massive debris field 1,400 feet in diameter, along with the absence of “pancaked” floors, indicates a very explosive destruction of each tower.

* The presence of several tons of molten metal found in the debris is consistent with the extreme temperatures generated by the use of thermite – an incendiary used to cut through steel like a hot knife through butter.

* An international team of scientists found nano-thermitic composite material in World Trade Center dust samples, providing hard evidence of the presence of advanced energetic materials in the disaster debris.

“The official FEMA and NIST reports provide insufficient, contradictory, and fraudulent accounts of the circumstances of the towers’ destruction,” says Gage. “We are therefore calling for a grand jury investigation of NIST officials.”

An AE911Truth petition calling for a new investigation was submitted this week to every government representative in Congress. The petition now contains over 1,270 architect/engineer signers – altogether over 10,000 around the world have signed the petition.

The 24’ (w) x 12’ (h) billboard was installed sometime Thurs. afternoon, Aug. 5, 2010 on South Higuera, just south of Elks Lane in San Luis Obispo (near the Sutcliffe Cemetery).

The activists who brought this matter to the people of San Luis Obispo County and the thousands that will drive by the billboard over the next 8 weeks realize that the evidence we are attempting to share is difficult to digest. Many simply cannot bear to question the official version of what happened on 9/11 because the implications are so difficult to face.

In order to understand the facts regarding the unprecedented total collapse of 3 modern, steel high rise buildings one has to free themselves from preconceived notions in the face of evidence backed by fact and the laws of physics.

The volumes of evidence include a peer reviewed paper published by an international team of scientists in which they describe discovering red chips of unignited thermited (an explosive incindiary) in all 4 samples of the World Trade Center dust that they tested. There has been no coverage of this paper in any of the mainstream press, including the so-called “Left” media. NIST (The National Institute of Standards and Technology) was tasked with explaining these 3 high rise failures and produced the reports that make the government’s case. But they have not responded to this paper and have remained silent on many other issues that the 9/11 Truth community has raised.
