A Life Sentence Without Due Process

A 48-year-old Afghan citizen and Guantanamo detainee, Awal Gul, died on Tuesday of an apparent heart attack. Gul, a father of 18 children, had been kept in a cage by the U.S. for more than 9 years — since late 2001 when he was abducted in Afghanistan — without ever having been charged with a crime.
Energetic Materials as a Potential Cause of 9/11 Illnesses

The tragedy at the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001 continues to affect many thousands of first responders who sacrificed their own health while restoring lower Manhattan and attempting to recover survivors and victims’ remains. Recently, HR 847, otherwise known as the James Zadroga Bill, was signed by President Obama in an effort to provide services and compensation for those whose health was compromised through exposure to the toxic dust and gases at Ground Zero. However, these first responders also need help to understand how their illnesses originated so that improvements in treatment can be made. In response to this need, concerned citizens should consider the possible correlation between evidence for energetic materials at the WTC and the environmental exposures which appear to have caused so many illnesses in the first responders.
FBI: No Fifth 9/11 Cell, Wikileaks Fuels Conspiracy Theories
A senior FBI official yesterday moved to quash rumors that the publication of a secret State Department cable by Wikileaks points towards a so-called “fifth 9/11 hijack team.” The cable, sent February 11, 2010, by the US Embassy in Doha to the National Counterterrorism Center in Virginia, recommended adding a Qatari citizen to the air-travel watch list because he was one of four individuals “currently under investigation by the FBI for his possible involvement in the 11 September 2001 attacks. He is suspected of aiding people who entered the U.S. before the attacks to conduct surveillance of possible targets and providing other support to the hijackers.” The cable, the FBI official said, was not accurate. “They’re not sought by us and they’re not 9/11 plotters,” the FBI official said, speaking anonymously so he could speak candidly.
Wikileaks Cables Ripe for "Nuclear Al Qaeda" Fear Mongering
Under the headline “Al Qaeda On Brink of Using Nuclear Bomb” The Vancouver Sun reports:
Al Qaeda is on the verge of producing radioactive weapons after sourcing nuclear material and recruiting rogue scientists to build “dirty” bombs, according to leaked diplomatic documents. A leading atomic regulator has privately warned that the world stands on the brink of a “nuclear 9/11”. Security briefings suggest that jihadi groups are also close to producing “workable and efficient” biological and chemical weapons that could kill thousands if unleashed in attacks on the West. Thousands of classified American cables obtained by the WikiLeaks website and passed to The Daily Telegraph detail the international struggle to stop the spread of weapons-grade nuclear, chemical and biological material around the globe.
Telegraph via Wikileaks: FBI Hunts 9/11 "Support" Gang
Based on a leaked secret document, The Daily Telegraph reports that the FBI has launched a manhunt for a team of people who they say supported the alleged 9/11 plotters.
Not On The Fence For 9/11 Justice

On December 16, 2010, I would estimate about 200 veterans committed an act of civil disobedience in front of the White House. Several chained themselves to the fence in one form or another. This act inspired me. As a result, I decided to commit a similar act of civil disobedience. Today, I did exactly that. […]

Egypt's "Emergency" Powers Mirrored in Post-9/11 USA

Indefinite detention. Ubiquitous torture. Secret courts. Special authority for police interventions. The complete absence of privacy, even in one’s own home. Astute followers of American politics might think those items a dog whistle, evoking the worst civil liberties abuses permitted by the USA PATRIOT Act and other “emergency” provisions passed in the wake of Sept. 11, 2001. They are, in fact, just a few of the powers claimed in an Egyptian “emergency” law passed in 1958, that goes even further than the controversial American security provisions.
Guantanamo Detainees Stage Peaceful Protests Daily

Said Abdulhadi has spent nearly nine years in the jail on the US naval base in Cuba. “We hope that guards, military officials and visiting delegations of Red Cross representatives, congressional members and journalists hear our cry for freedom,” Abdulhadi reportedly told Kassem. Kassem added the prisoners have made signs and posters in English, now plastered on their cell blocks, asking “Where are the Courts?”, “What About our Rights?”, and “Where is Democracy?”
Richard Falk Responds to The Lobby’s Vilification
I never endorsed doubts about the official version of 9/11 beyond indicating what anyone who has objectively examined the controversy knows — that there remain certain gaps in the official explanation that give rise to an array of conspiratorial explanations, and that the 9/11 Commission unfortunately did not put these concerns to rest. My plea was intended to encourage addressing these gaps in a credible manner, nothing more, nothing less. I certainly meant no disrespect toward the collective memory of 9/11 in the country and elsewhere. On the contrary, my intention was to encourage an investigation that might finally achieve closure with respect to doubts that remain prevalent among important sectors of the public, including among some 9/11 families.
